DUMBEST THING EVER!!

OK, Ok. I know it's a leeeeetle bit tacky to bitch about free software. I got FAAR more than I paid for when I downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird from the Mozilla group. But c'mon people. How HUGE an oversight is it that there is NO WAY (through the preferences/settings interfaces of EITHER application) for an OS X user to set Thunderbird as your default mailto link handler in Firefox? Jeezis.

And while I'm at it, a big SHAME ON YOU to Apple for selling me a $1000+ computer, with no way to set my default mailto protocol helper without using your proprietary Mail application, which I hate.

The shame of it. Here I am using an Apple computer, with open-source Mozilla software, and would you BELIEVE what application I had to launch to make Firefox send my mailto links to Thunderbird? Can you guess?! Go ahead. Give it a think. I'll wait. In the meantime, off to the corners with Mozilla & Apple:

Apple and Mozilla sit in the corner with their dunce caps on

OK. So. I had to launch Internet Explorer — a Microsoft application — to fire up a little love between my Mozilla internet apps on my Apple computer.

Internet Explorer unites Firefox and Thunderbird

Fer chrissakes.
